Easy Maple Glazed Brussels Sprouts Recipe
Adulting is realizing that Brussel sprouts are really a top tier veggie! My Maple glazed Brussels sprouts are easy to make and packed with so much flavor. I can’t believe the bad rap Brussels sprouts got growing up. But man oh man does this recipe change all of that!

What are Brussels Sprouts?
Brussels sprouts resemble small baby cabbages. They are small and bright green in color and said to originate Brussels, Belgium. They belong to the Brassica Oleracea family, that also include, broccoli, kale and cabbage and cauliflower.

What you’ll need?
Here’s what you’ll need for these Maple Glazed Brussels Sprouts:
- Brussels Sprouts: cut in half.
- shallot: finely minced
- garlic: minced.
- maple syrup: you can also use pancake syrup if that’s all you had.
- seasonings: I used a variety of pantry staples.
- vinegar: adds balance
- parmesan cheese: optional

Maple Glazed Brussels Sprouts
Ingredients
- 1 lbs brussel sprouts
- 2-3 strips of turkey bacon diced
- 1/2 shallot minced
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp all purpose seasoning
- 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- salt to taste
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1/2 tsp pepper jelly optional
- 1-2 tbsp maple or butter flavored syrup
- 1 tsp white vinegar
- Parmesan cheese optional
Instructions
- Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in a large skillet, over medium high heat. Add diced bacon and cook until crispy. Remove the bacon from the pan.
- Add 2 tbsp of olive oil to the bacon grease. Once it's warmed, add brussel sprouts cut side down and cook in the rendered bacon grease. Cook until charred. About 6 minutes. Then stir and add in shallots.
- Reduce heat to medium and add 1 tbsp of butter and continue to sautè until shallots are fragrant. About 2 minutes.
- Season with all purpose seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper and a pinch of salt. Add 1-2 tbsp of water if needed.
- After about 5 minutes, add bacon back into the pan. Add in syrup, pepper jelly, red pepper flakes and a splash of white vinegar. Stir well until the sauce begins to bubble and thicken.
- Taste and adjust salt/ seasonings if needed. 7.Top with Parmesan cheese optional
- Serve warm and enjoy!
