Hey friends, we’re in the thick of peach season, and there’s no better way to enjoy peach season than a peach cobbler. Brown sugar peaches simmered in the most delicious sauce topped with a sugar cookie crumble. This is what peach dreams are made of.
I decided to share one of my favorite recipes from my e-cookbook with you all here.

What’s Peach Cobbler?
Peach cobbler is a very popular dessert especially in the south. It’s the combination of spiced peaches simmered in it’s juices then topped with a pie crust or battered cake topping. It’s baked in the oven until it’s golden and bubbly and usually served warm with ice cream.

Here’s what you’ll need:
- Peaches: you can use fresh, canned or frozen. I prefer to use canned because i usually have them on hand making this a really easy recipe with pantry staples.
- Butter: unsalted
- sugar: both brown and white sugar
- spices: i used cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla.
- All purpose flour
- Baking powder
- salt: sea salt or regular salt.
- milk: either almond or whole milk

Serving/ Topping Ideas:
- Vanilla ice cream
- crushed pecans
- walnuts
- whipped cream

Southern Peach Cobbler
Equipment
- Cast Iron Skillet
Ingredients
- 2 15 oz cans of sliced peaches
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tsp vanilla
- pinch of salt
- cornstarch slurry 2 tbsp water + 1 tbsp cornstarch
For the topping
- 1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 5 tbsp unsalted butter melted
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
Toppings
- crushed pecans
- vanilla ice cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F
- In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, brown and white sugar. Carefully pour in the melted butter, vanilla and milk. Mix until just combined and set aside.
- In a saucepan, over medium heat melt butter over medium heat. Then pour in the strained peaches. Add in brown and white sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and a pinch of salt.
- Mix well, then simmer for 10 minutes. Add in cornstarch slurry to thicken. This should take about 15 minutes.
- Once the sauce thickens, remove from the heat, add the peaches to a cast iron skillet or oven safe-pan. Top with the doughy topping. Note It'll be a tacky cookie dough texture.
- Break the pieces and distribute throughout the top layer of the cobbler until majority of it is coated. There will be gaps of exposed peaches and that's okay.
- Bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes or until the topping is golden.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and crushed pecans if desired.
