What you’ll need to Make This Harissa Chicken Pasta
- Chicken: I used chicken tenderloins. But feel free to use chicken thighs or breast
- Pasta: I used Capellini/ Angel Hair pasta for this recipe. But feel free to use your favorite noodle.
- Harissa paste: packs the perfect punch of heat. It’s a combination of red peppers, chili peppers and more. Here’s the one I like using.
- Garlic: the more the better.
- Shallots: minced finely.
- Pasta water: always remember to reserve a little pasta water for the sauce when making pasta. This helps the sauce cling to the pasta.
- Parmesan cheese: freshly grated.
- Spinach- Feel free to add whatever leafy green or veggie you’d like.
- Sun-dried tomatoes: sun-dried tomatoes with Italian seasonings and herbs. Here’s the one I used.
- Seasonings: I used a variety of pantry staples to flavor the pasta. Check the notes.
- Lemon Juice: I love to finish my pastas with a little acid. It adds a touch of brightness to the pasta.
- Olive Oil: Extra Virgin.
- Seasonings: I used a variety of seasonings to help elevate the dish. One being Trader Joe’s Italian Style Soffritto. It’s a combination of crispy onions, sun-dried tomatoes, sea salt, garlic, red peppers, parsley, rosemary, and sage.
Tips/ variations
- Storage: Leftovers can be stored in a tightly sealed container for up to 3-4 days. My current favorite storage is from Caraway.
- Pasta: for best results I recommend using a long, thin pasta. Like angel hair, spaghetti or linguine.
- Customize it: feel free to add in your favorite veggies. Mushrooms, broccoli etc.
