I don’t know about you but, I LOVE frozen cocktails! And with the weather warming up, it’s only right I make the frozen version of one of my favorite cocktails. The Lemon drop.

This Frozen Lemon Drop is made using sweet and tangy frozen lemonade, then blended with Tequila reposado, Cointreau, simple syrup, lemonade and fresh lemon juice. Smooth and refreshing.
It’s served in a chilled martini glass rimmed with sugar to enhance its crisp, citrusy flavor. This cocktail is perfect for sipping poolside or at your next summer soirée.

A lemon drop is traditionally made with vodka, but the great thing about being an at-home mixologist is that… you can add whatever type of alcohol you want. And since I’m a tequila girl, we’re using tequila.
Frozen Lemon Drop Ingredients
- Lemonade- frozen into ice cubes. If you’re short on time, frozen lemonade concentrate works great as well.
- Tequila Repo- I used Clasè Azul. But feel free to use your favorite Tequila.
- Lemon juice- fresh is best.
- Lemonade- optional. I used this help blend everything together. My favorite is Simply
- Simple Syrup- sweetens things up.
- Orange Liqueur- I used Cointreau. It adds a great orange note that compliments the lemon flavor.
There’s just something about a frozen cocktail that makes me really happy.

How to make this Frozen Lemon Drop
This cocktail is really simple to make. Freeze some lemonade the day before. Once the lemonade is frozen, add all the ingredients to a high powered blender. Blend until smooth. Rim a chilled martini glass with lime and sugar. Pour the cocktail into the glass and garnish with a lemon wheel.
Tips for making the best Frozen Lemon Drop
- Use fresh lemon juice- I used both fresh lemon juice and lemonade. Fresh is best. and adds a delicious brightness to the cocktail. I personally prefer fresh citrus when making cocktails. I also used lemonade to help blend everything together.
- Use quality alcohol- whether you use tequila, vodka or gin, I recommend using smooth, quality alcohol.
- Use frozen lemonade- whenever I make a frozen cocktail, I try to limit the amount of ice used to prevent the cocktail from becoming watered down. I recommend freezing the lemonade. And if you’re short on time, use frozen lemonade concentrate. You can find this in the freezer isle at most grocery stores.
- High Power Blender- mine is the Ninja IQ blender and I absolutely LOVE it.
- Simple Syrup– you can easily make simple syrup by combining equal parts water and sugar. I recommend making it yourself because it tastes better.
