Crunchy French Toast

The weekends are for brunch! And this delicious crunchy french toast is perfect for it. Crispy on the outside, and sweet, fluffy cinnamon goodness on the inside. Served with fresh fruit, powdered sugar and whipped cream.

I can’t believe I waited so long to share this recipe with you all. I used to make this all the time in college. EVERY time I made it for my friends, they loved it. It’s a fun twist to the traditional French toast that we all know and love. Brioche bread dipped in a creamy, “cinamonny” egg batter, crusted with Frosted Flakes. I know, I know. Cinnamonny is not a word. Tryna paint a picture here. did you catch the vibe?

& Yes I said Frosted Flakes. An ode to my childhood. French Toast and Frosted Flakes. The collab you didn’t know you needed.

What you’ll need

Brioche bread– the best bread for French toast. soft, fluffy with a hint of sweetness. Be sure to use a thicker bread for this recipe.
Eggs– 2 eggs, scrambled.
Coffee Creamer- this is a game changer! Add your favorite coffee creamer to your egg batter.
Cinnamon– would it be French toast without cinnamon?
Frosted Flakes- Star of the show! Adds the perfect texture to the soft and delicious French toast.
Vanilla- vanilla extract to add flavor to the batter.
Butter & olive oil – cook the French toast low and slow until golden brown.

You can also try this recipe with Cinnamon Toast Crunch. We’ve made it a few times and it was pretty good.. Buttt something about the Frosted Flakes keeps pulling me back, telling me I need it in my life. Word to Chingy. haha. let me stop.

Tips-

  • The key to the perfect French toast is cooking it LOW & SLOW in butter and olive oil. It takes a little longer, but I promise it’s worth it!
  • Crush the Frosted Flakes to get smaller pieces.
  • use fluffy bread! If you can’t get your hands on brioche bread, a thick slice of bread like Texas toast is also recommended.
  • Coffee creamer. Using coffee creamer adds the perfect amount of sweetness to the egg batter.
