Y’all know I’m from California and I take my Mexican food very seriously! Carne Asada fries or steak fries have been a favorite of mine since high school. I guess you can say I’m missing home because I’ve been on a Mexican food kick lately. Today’s dinner I’m showing you how I do loaded steak fries or carne asada fries, my way!

Steak fries are a quick way to elevate dinner. Think nachos, but fries. That’s basically what they are. But of course french fries makes things 10x better.

This recipe is super simple. Besides a little bit of prep for the toppings it comes together very quickly. You can also prep your toppings the night before when you marinade the meat. Or you can also buy things like the Pico de gallo ready made.

Why you’ll love these Loaded Steak Fries?

  • Easy to make: Once you prepare your toppings, which can be prepped ahead of time, this comes together in no time. The longest part of this recipe is letting the steak marinate, but again, this can be prepped the night before.
  • The flavors: If you like nachos or Mexican cuisine in general, you’re going to love this fun twist.
  • Customizable: You can customize these delicious steak fries to your liking.
  • Perfect for sharing: These Loaded Steak Fries make a great appetizer or snack for gatherings. Serve them at parties or game days, and watch them disappear in no time!

For the Green sauce:

  • Protein Options: Substitute pulled pork or chicken for the steak.
  • Veggify it: Use mushrooms or jack fruit as a meat substitute.
  • Get creative with your toppings!

How to store?

For the best experience, I recommend preparing your loaded steak fries fresh to order. Storing them fully loaded will make reheating challenging. If you need to store them, keep the ingredients separate and assemble them when you’re ready to enjoy!

Instructions

  • In a large ziploc bag or bowl, add olive oil, onion powder, garlic powder, Chile powder, cumin, salt and pepper. Then add in cilantro, onion, lime juice and orange juice. Mix to combine then add in steak. Cover and allow to marinate overnight.

For the pico de gallo

  • To Assemble the Fries: Spread the cooked French fries evenly on a sheet pan. Drizzle queso over the fries, then sprinkle shredded cheese and steak pieces on top. Place the pan in the oven and broil for 4-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Finish with pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream, and salsa verde. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Combine 1 can of Ricos and 2/3 cup of chicken broth over medium. Combine 1/4 cup salsa verde and roasted serrano pepper or pickled jalapeño peppers. Mix until smooth.
Marinate the steak for at least 1 hour. the longer the better.
