You guys know I love a good blended/frozen cocktail. And it was only right that I share one of my favorite frozen cocktails. A good ‘ol Piña Colada! If you didn’t know, this is a Piña Colada STAN account! If I had to choose, this is one of the best tropical cocktails ever. The combination of coconut, pineapple and rum. Top tier combo!
How to make a Piña Colada?
It’s important to make sure you have balance when making this cocktail. I’ve had terrible Pina coladas, where all I tasted was rum. Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not opposed to a strong cocktail… but I’d rather the other ingredients balance things out to hide the fact that it’s a strong cocktail. I’d rather it sneak up on me. It’s all about balance. And the one thing I love about this cocktail is the balance of flavors of coconut and pineapple and rum.
It’s funny how our taste buds change. Growing up I was not a fan of coconut, AT ALL. But as I’ve gotten older, I absolutely LOVE coconut. In my food, drinks etc. It’s so good!

What You’ll Need For This Piña Colada
- Pineapple: I used both frozen pineapple and pineapple juice.
- Rum: I used both dark and light Bacardi for this recipe. Another great rum is Ten To One.
- Creme of Coconut: I love the brand Coco Lopez. You can also use coconut cream or coconut milk.
- Lime: If it’s not fresh, I don’t want it.
- Ice: optional. I typically like limit the amount of ice in my frozen cocktails by freezing the juice into ice cubes and use frozen fruit to get the perfect consistency. But in a pina colada a little ice is necessary..
Why you’ll love this Frozen Piña Colada
- It’s refreshing! Vacation vibes without the vacation
- Money saver! One of my favorite reasons for making cocktails and mocktails at home is the ability to save money, and make whenever I want or when I’m hosting.
- The taste! Pineapple and coconut just go together REAL bad. The addition of citrus makes the perfect drink!
