Zero Proof Blueberry Mojito Mocktail

Yes, you read that right – a zero proof Blueberry Mojito Mocktail! This refreshing drink is made with a perfect blend of zero proof rum, fresh blueberries, zesty citrus, and aromatic mint, all topped with a fizzy finish that’s sure to delight your taste buds.

Now, I know a non-alcoholic drink might not interest everyone, but we’re inclusive around here. So this one’s for my non-alcoholic babes and soon-to-be mamas!

What is Alcohol Alternative?

Zero proof alcohol is an alcohol-free alternative to traditional alcoholic beverages. It is often made with distilled botanicals and botanical extracts, and is meant to mimic the flavors and experience of drinking traditional alcoholic drinks, without the actual alcohol content. Essentially, all the taste without the alcohol.

Ritual gifted me a few of their alcohol alternatives and I knew I wanted to make a mocktail version of one of my favorite cocktails. I was shocked at how much this tasted like Rum but without the alcohol. I can’t describe it. I was shook! Oh and did I mention ZERO calories. This isn’t an AD, I’m just really, really impressed.

Mojitos are the ultimate drink to cool down on a hot, sunny day. They’re flavorful, refreshing, and now with this zero-proof version, everyone can enjoy them guilt-free!

What you’ll need

Non-Alcoholic Rum- optional, but I used Ritual Zero Proof Rum Alternative.
Blueberries- I made a blueberry syrup but if you’re short on time feel free to use a few fresh or frozen blueberries and muddle them.
Lime Juice- fresh is best.
Sprite or club soda– adds the best fizzy finish to the mocktail.
Mint- adds the perfect minty flavor and adds a great pop of color.

How to make the blueberry simple syrup?

The recipe starts with my blueberry simple syrup recipe. You can prepare this early in the week and store it in the fridge for up to three weeks, ready to use in cocktails, mocktails, or desserts.

To a saucepan, add equal parts water and sugar, along with frozen blueberries. Bring to a boil, then mash down the blueberries and reduce the sauce to a simmer. Let it simmer for about 15 minutes, then remove from heat and allow it to cool. Strain the blueberries into a mason jar and store in the fridge until ready to use.

For the mocktail

Now, for the mocktail. In a Collins glass, add lime juice, fresh mint, and Zero Proof Rum. Muddle the ingredients together, then add blueberry syrup, blueberry lemonade, and ice. Stir with a bar spoon to combine all the ingredients. Top with Sprite or club soda, and don’t forget to garnish with a lime wheel and some fresh mint. Remember to smack the mint leaves to release their natural oils!

And for those of you looking for a cocktail version of this blueberry mojito, don’t worry, I’ve got you covered.
