honey Sriracha Wings

My boyfriend requested wings for Thursday night football, specifically Hot Honey Wings. I decided to put a twist to the classic and make my Hot Honey Sriracha Wings. They’re still considered “hot honey”, but with an Asian twist. The flavors blend perfectly, and these wings turned out absolutely amazing! If you’re a fan of honey hot wings, you’ve got to try these.

How should I cook Honey Sriracha Wings?

Honestly, what was life before the air fryer? I know it’s literally just a mini oven, but it really is one of the BEST kitchen appliances ever and it gets things done in half the time. I will forever STAN.

I used my air fryer. Cooked the wings on 380 for 25-30 minutes flipping them half way through. You can also fry them or bake them in the oven, if you prefer.

Note: I highly recommend preheating your air fryer before cooking the wings to get them extra crispy.

These Honey Sriracha Wings come together quickly and will become your new favorite wing!

What’s Sriracha?

Sriracha is a chili based hot sauce. It’s spicy with a slight sweetness and the BEST hot sauce in the world, if I do say so myself. If you know me, I put Sriracha on everything. Literally keep a bottle at all times. I take my Sriracha VERY seriously. My heart was broken when they had the shortage. And it was in that time, I knew, not all Sriracha is created equal. Huy Fong is the best of the best.

Ingredients to make Honey Sriracha Wings

here’s what you’ll need:

For the sauce

  • Honey: subtle sweetness.
  • Sriracha: not all Sriracha is created equal. My favorite brand is from Huy Fong.
  • Chili Garlic Sauce: this adds the perfect flavor of heat and garlic.
  • Unsalted butter: so you can control the saltiness.
  • Brown Sugar: adds a touch of sweetness to balance the spice.
  • Vinegar: adds a nice tang to the sauce.
  • Soy sauce: for salty touch. Feel free to leave out.
  • Red pepper flakes: optional but you know I love my spice.
  • Seasoning: salt and onion powder.

For the Wings

  • Whole Chicken Wings: I split my whole wings into drums and flats. Feel free to use whole chicken wings or even tenders.
  • Baking Powder: The key to getting super crispy wings in the air fryer.
  • Cornstarch: Comparable to baking powder, this gives the wings a golden, crispy crunch.
  • Neutral Oil: this helps the seasonings stick to the chicken.
  • Seasonings: Onion powder, garlic powder, Tony’s Lite seasoning, smoked paprika, Adobo, cayenne pepper salt and black pepper.

How to make the Honey Sriracha wings?

  1. Cut your whole wings into drums and flats. Clean the wings with vinegar, water and lime, if desired. Pluck any hairs. Then rinse the chicken with cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Pat dry the chicken then add to a bowl. Add olive oil and season with onion powder and garlic powder. Add Adobo, Tony’s lite seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until coated. Then add in cornstarch and baking powder. Mix until each wing is coated. Set aside.
  3. Preheat air fryer for 10 minutes at 380 degrees. Add the wings to the air fryer trays. Air fry on 380 for 25 minutes flipping them half way through.

For the sauce

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add Sriracha, honey, chili garlic sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar and red pepper flakes. Stir until smooth and bring to a low simmer.
  2. Season with onion powder, salt and rice wine vinegar. Allow the sauce to thicken, stirring occasionally. If the sauce becomes too thick or if you prefer a runnier consistency, add a little water to reach your desired texture.
  3. Transfer the cooked wings to a bowl and pour the sauce over them. Toss the wings until they are fully coated in the sauce.
  4. Top with chives if desired. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce and fries. Check below to see how else to serve these Hot Honey Sriracha Wings with.
